Nurse Practitioner, a degree for nurses who complete master’s-level training and board certification in order to practice medicine. As nurses, NPs bring a special sort of caring to their work. Alternate degrees include ANP (Adult Nurse Practitioner), FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), and WHNP (Women's Health Nurse Practitioner).
Compassionate and sincere, Amy uses evidence-based medicine and preventive care to empower her patients to live healthfully. She listens to patients' unique needs and advocates for them to help them achieve their health goals. She enjoys working with patients at every stage of life and is especially fond of her oldest patients. Amy is passionate about LGBT care and is experienced in prescribing hormones for gender transition. She is certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine to provide primary care for HIV positive individuals and is trained in High Resolution Anoscopy. She lives in Northern Virginia with her wife and cat. Amy earned her master's of science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and is a certified Adult Health and Gerontological Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
