Going to the gym alone can get boring quickly. This fall, shake up your routine and meet new people by joining one of Chicago’s intramural leagues.

We rounded up some of the top recreational groups, so you don’t have to be a pro to join. Pick your favorite sport, pick a location, and enjoy a healthy social life and a healthy heart.

Softball: Players Sport & Social Group

Cost: $89-$109 (Individual) / $1099-$1249 (Team)

Highlights: Softball is a great way for everyone (even those worried about being less athletically inclined) to engage in a team sport and enjoy getting fit outdoors. Fall softball leagues start in August and September and include coed and men’s leagues.

Good for: First-time intramural sports players.

Soccer: Chicago Sport & Social Club

Cost: $95-$135 (Individual) / $0-$1495 (Team)

Highlights: If you’re looking for more of a conditioning workout, soccer is the perfect beginner sport. This group features mostly coed leagues at indoor and outdoor venues throughout Chicago.

Good for: People looking for a serious aerobic workout.

Football: Chicago Sport & Social Club

Cost: $85-$100 (Individual) / $825-$1075 (Team)

Highlights: Get hands-on and dirty with one of America’s most popular sports, football. This group offers men’s and coed flag as well as coed touch football leagues. Put a team together or join as an “indy” to be added to a group.

Good for: People looking for a more intense level of competition, people looking for a serious aerobic workout.

Basketball: Chicago Sport & Social Club

Cost: $115-$125 (Individual) / $865-$980 (Team)

Highlights: Put your athleticism to the test and get an intense workout by joining a basketball league. This group offers coed or men’s five versus five leagues, and competition is strong at all levels.

Good for: People looking for a more intense level of competition, people looking for a serious aerobic workout.

Kickball: Players Sport & Social Group

Cost: $79-$89 (Individual) / $849-$899 (Team)

Highlights: Relive your elementary school phys ed days by joining an adult kickball league. Kickball leagues are geared towards having fun on the field and socializing afterwards.

Good for: First-time intramural sports players, people looking for a more relaxed level of competition.
