Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine, or DOs, are fully licensed and board-certified physicians who practice in all areas of medicine. DOs emphasize a whole-person approach to treatment and receive extra training in the musculoskeletal system called osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT). DOs at One Medical typically practice in the field of family medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, or internal medicine, and may also integrate OMT.

About Sadia
Sadia Bashir

My training as an osteopathic physician is grounded in treating the mind, body and spirit-which is reflected in my approach to patient care. I find fulfillment in connecting with patients and building strong relationships. I believe this to be fundamental in creating a path forward to better health. Medicine is both a science and an art. I like to use evidence based medicine to inform my decisions and discussions with patients. At the same time, I understand that patients are at different stages in their lives and fully support meeting them where they are in order to create realistic and achievable plans together. My patients put their trust in me and I respect them by doing my best and asking the right questions, even if it may be difficult. I strive to dig deep and find the root causes of issues. Part of this is careful, active listening. So often, patient illnesses are uncovered just by listening to them. This is why I'm passionate about caring for women, as their concerns have often been dismissed in healthcare and it has historically been male-centric. I hope to balance the scales by offering my perspective as a female physician. Being a Muslim woman, I am also uniquely positioned to provide religiously-sensitive care for fellow Muslimahs who may prefer a provider that can navigate the specific healthcare needs and environments of Muslim women.||As an osteopathic physician, I have extra training in the musculoskeletal system and enjoy providing patients instant relief by performing osteopathic manipulative medicine when appropriate. I prefer to limit the amount of meditations my patients are on, so that they're taking only what they need and limiting adverse effects. I routinely check patients' medication lists, as I've seen many who have had medications continuously added over time without a thorough re-evaluation of the risks and benefits-particularly older patients. I do also find working with adolescents and young adults rewarding, as they're just beginning their healthcare journey and are able to benefit tremendously from early intervention and treatment for disease prevention.

How I stay healthy and happy
Praying, practicing and learning about my faith with sincerity helps keep me focused and centered. I recharge by spending quality time with family and friends, whether over a delicious meal, cup of chai, going for a walk, or out on a hike. I love to learn about different cultures and plan to travel to different countries to experience the beauty of this world and all its peoples. Language learning is also a hobby of mine; I'm interested in Arabic and Spanish, along with fully learning Urdu/Punjabi (which I can mostly understand but can't speak as fluently). Guilty pleasures include bingewatching kdramas or anime. Currently, I'm getting into weightlifting and yoga to maintain mobility and strength in my everyday life.
