Queen Wahiwe, MD
Tacoma
Doctor of Medicine, a common medical school degree for physicians. MDs at One Medical typically specialize in family medicine, internal medicine, geriatrics or pediatrics.
I see the patient as a whole person. I try to meet patients where they are, and partner with them to reach their goal. My approach is one of empowerment and encouragement. It's important to me that my patients see that their health is more than physical; health is also mental and spiritual. These aspects of health are all interrelated and influence our state of wellbeing. My goal is to empower my patients to take ownership of their health, to partner with them to reach their goals, to try and minimize the use of medications, and to help my patients see that it's possible to get better and to feel better.
How I stay healthy and happy
I enjoy spending time with my husband and my son who is preschool age. Our hearts are in missions work, both here in United States and abroad. I have a large background in serving communities with limited resources. I enjoy nature, spending time outdoors, dancing, journaling, traveling and experiencing different cultures. I'm actively involved in my church and other nonprofit organizations. My husband is a fantastic cook; we often dream about opening up our own restaurant with an African twist!
