Nurse Practitioner, a degree for nurses who complete master’s-level training and board certification in order to practice medicine. As nurses, NPs bring a special sort of caring to their work. Alternate degrees include ANP (Adult Nurse Practitioner), FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), and WHNP (Women's Health Nurse Practitioner).

Karissa is a very approachable provider with an integrative focus. Taking her time with each patient, she listens to their concerns, thoroughly explains new diagnoses or treatment plans, and provides individualized care. Her goal is for people to feel comfortable talking about any issue, so they can fully understand and manage their own health. She loves educating patients and is passionate about diabetes and mental health.

To keep healthy, Karissa enjoys finding new recipes to cook for family and friends and attending ballet and barre classes. Outside of work, she travels, stays active in her church, tries new restaurants, goes to the theater, and volunteers in her community. Karissa earned her master's degree in nursing from Purdue University Northwest and is currently working on her doctoral degree in nursing at Columbia University. She's board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
