Nurse Practitioner, a degree for nurses who complete master’s-level training and board certification in order to practice medicine. As nurses, NPs bring a special sort of caring to their work. Alternate degrees include ANP (Adult Nurse Practitioner), FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), and WHNP (Women's Health Nurse Practitioner).
I think compassion is at the heart of healthcare, and I see a patient as a person rather than a set of diagnoses. I listen to the whole problem and work with each person to help them achieve what they want in life. I enjoy working with families in the context of their communities, so I see newborns to senior citizens. I have special interests in addiction medicine and women's health issues.
How I stay healthy and happy
My favorite thing to do is to take my dogs for a hike! I also enjoy reading, quilting, embroidery, camping, and building projects.
