Andrew Bertagnolli, PhD
San Francisco
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in behavioral medicine. Behavioral medicine is the application of psychological theories, scientific psychological findings, and techniques of psychotherapy, behavior modification, cognitive, interpersonal, family, and lifestyle therapy to improve the psychological and physical health of the patient.
I use a biopsychosocial approach, which recognizes the importance of addressing the interaction between physical, psychological, and social factors in both the prevention and management of disease. I’ve authored several scientific journal articles and lectured both nationally and internationally in the areas of cognitive-behavioral therapy with medical patients, psychological approaches to pain management, and the integration of psychology into primary medical care.
