SAN FRANCISCO, July 19, 2017 -- One Medical, the membership-based and technologyenabled national primary care practice on a mission to transform healthcare, today announced that noted healthcare leader Amir Dan Rubin will join the organization as president and chief executive officer. Founder Tom X. Lee, MD will assume the executive chairman role where he will continue to provide strategic leadership and guidance.
Over the last 10 years under Tom’s leadership, One Medical has grown from a single office in San Francisco to become the national leader in tech-enabled primary care. The company continues its innovation and growth trajectory, reaching 60 offices and eight regional markets this year – including Seattle which it launched in May – scaling a robust enterprise business in addition to its direct-to-consumer business, and delivering technology that integrates in-office and virtual care to patients while creating a more seamless practice environment for providers.
Amir’s tremendous skill-set, experience and accomplishments—coupled with a shared passion for One Medical’s patient-first philosophy—made him the ideal choice to steer the company into the future. Joining from UnitedHealth Group’s Optum division, Amir served as EVP and divisional CEO overseeing a number of business lines focused on helping to make the health system work better for everyone. Prior to Optum, Amir served as president and CEO of Stanford Health Care where he helped raise patient experience and quality scores to the highest levels in the nation, grow a regional network of care settings, and advance digital health and corporate partnerships in the heart of Silicon Valley. Amir also previously served as COO for the UCLA Health System, where he helped significantly advance quality, service, operations, finances, and growth. He has been awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Northern California, recognizing his role in innovation and industry transformation, and holds Masters in Business Administration and Health Services Administration from the University of Michigan.
“I’m so excited to come on board to help transform healthcare through One Medical’s innovative model for delivering healthier patients with highest levels of service and engagement,” said Amir. “I’m eager to work with Tom and an incredible team to help make significant impacts and steward the company into its next phase of growth.”
“We’re all thrilled to welcome Amir to One Medical,” said Tom. “He brings deep industry expertise, in addition to a passion for technology that will serve our patients and company well into the future. I look forward to partnering with Amir over the years to come.”
Amir officially steps into his new role with One Medical in San Francisco on August 7th. He’ll be working closely with the entire executive leadership team, which most recently expanded to include new Chief Medical Officer Jeff Dobro, MD.
