Advocate Aurora Health and One Medical Announce New Partnership in Illinois

July 9, 2019

CHICAGO (July 9, 2019) —With a shared commitment to transforming the health care experience, Advocate Aurora Health and One Medical have announced a new partnership. The ninth largest integrated health system in the nation, Advocate Aurora is now the preferred health system partner in Illinois for One Medical, a member-based, technology-powered primary care network. Among the largest independent primary care groups in the nation, One Medical currently operates three offices in Chicago, with plans for further expansion in the market to support this newly formed partnership with Advocate Aurora. One Medical has forged similar health system partnerships in other markets, including Mount Sinai Health System of New York and UC San Diego Health.

The partnership provides One Medical's Chicago members with streamlined access to Advocate Aurora's vast, high-quality network of specialists and hospitals. Together, the two organizations aim to transform the health care experience through highly coordinated, digitally-enabled care that impacts wellness and value for consumers and employers.

"Advocate Aurora is committed to forging bold partnerships with organizations and businesses that share our vision for transforming health care and putting the consumer first," said Scott Powder, Chief Strategy Officer for Advocate Aurora Health. "One Medical's unique, member-based approach to primary care complements Advocate Aurora's existing primary and specialty care network, allowing us to offer their members greater access to the health services they need to live well."

One Medical has been part of Advocate Aurora's clinically-integrated network for the past few years, delivering high-quality, highly-efficient care through value-based agreements with insurance companies. This new partnership focuses on improving the coordination of specialty care and hospital services for One Medical members.

"By partnering with Advocate Aurora, One Medical will be able to provide members with an enhanced, integrated care experience that drives improved outcomes, with expedited access to partner specialists and hospital services," said John Singerling, Chief Network Officer for One Medical. "Closely coordinating care across the continuum with a partner that is equally as committed to quality, value and creating a more personalized consumer experience as One Medical will greatly benefit our members and partner employers."

Similar to Advocate Aurora, One Medical promotes the use of digital health tools to engage consumers in their care, from booking same-day appointments to using mobile apps for virtual care and prescription refills. One Medical's annual membership fee supports its digital technology platform.

The two organizations plan to work together to open several new clinics in Illinois over the next few years, based on consumer and employer demand.
