Sekai Chideya believes there is never a dull moment in primary care. “Each patient and encounter is unique and teaches me something about that person, the disease, and myself,” she says. Sekai believes that the most valuable gift a provider can give is his or her time and presence, and she appreciates One Medical Group's commitment to giving patients and providers the time and space necessary for effective healing to occur. Sekai’s style is respectful, personal, empowering, and full of humor. She gives her patients her full attention and explains her clinical findings and assessments in clear language that helps patients feel empowered to choose their best treatment options. “I believe in providing personalized but evidence-based care that empowers patients to make the best decisions they can about their health and wellbeing,” she says. Sekai is committed to improving the health of women and elders, and is also very interested in preventive medicine, chronic diseases, dermatology, and palliative care. To stay healthy, Sekai loves running, yoga, hiking, and martial arts. She also loves doing anything outdoors (“The harder, the better!”), and says she’d be lost without her bike. Sekai is an east coast native but fell in love with the Bay Area while attending medical school at UCSF. She completed the family practice residency at Georgetown University and earned her MPH from Johns Hopkins. Sekai is certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
