On July 27th, London hosted the Opening Ceremony to kick off the Games of the XXX Olympiad. With the 2012 Summer Olympic Games underway, we introduced a new blog series in which One Medical Group’s Kimberly Young, MD explores the question, “What important health lessons can we learn from Olympic athletes?”

For the first post in the series, which focuses on fitness and exercise, Young spoke to Ryan Hall, an American long-distance runner from California who will be competing for a medal next month. (Don’t miss Hall’s tips for staying motivated!)

Also this month, we published a handful of new recipes to suit a variety of palates and healthy diet plans. Dietary restrictions? No problem. Raw, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free–we’ve got you covered.

Speaking of gluten-free, many of our active patients have posed the question, “Can omitting gluten from your diet improve your athletic performance?” One Medical’s Amber Weiss, PA-C, LAc tackled this tough topic earlier this month.

July was a big month for health news. After more than a decade since it last approved a prescription diet drug, the FDA approved two new weight-loss drugs in June and July. Also making headlines: The FDA-approved at-home test for HIV.

Finally, a few weeks ago, we announced our latest location in downtown Palo Alto. Here’s a full roundup of our reporting from July.
