To celebrate, we’re excited to announce not one but two special giveaways. We’re giving away two fitness-tracking gadgets–winner’s choice of a Fitbit Ultra or a Nike+ FuelBand. Why’d we choose these devices? It’s pretty simple: One Medical team members love them for tracking our own health metrics and achieving our daily fitness goals. Here’s how they work.
The Nike+ FuelBand is a watch that logs your daily activity and collects data about your habits and behavior so that you can track and improve your performance over time. The FuelBand syncs the data to the Nike+ website via USB to your computer or smartphone. You can track your stats, compare them with other members of the Nike+ community, set personal goals, and share your progress with your social networks.
What the Doc Says: “I love the Nike Fuelband for both its design and functionality. It monitors my activity 24 hours a day with minimal effort on my part. Like many of my patients, having a daily activity goal motivates me to move more, especially toward the end of the day when I haven’t quite reached my goal. It’s also reinforced the learning that I feel way better on days when I move more. Favorite feature? The animated creature that dances around on my phone when I reach milestones. By the way–Fitbit is great, too!” Mark Berman, MD, One Medical Group
What It Measures: Your activity level, steps taken, and calories burned.
The Fitbit Ultra is a clip-on device for tracking and logging your daily activity, including how many steps you take and how many stairs you climb. It also measures how much–and how well–you sleep; and automatically syncs this data to your personalized dashboard on Fitbit.com, making it easy to keep track of your activity level and sleep patterns, and compare them with others in the community. Attach the Fitbit to a belt, waistband, or bra, or slip it in your pocket.
What the Tech Guy Says: “I like the Fitbit for its convenience. It’s small, which makes it easy to tuck in my pocket, and it has a long battery life, so I don’t need to charge it frequently. The device syncs my data wirelessly to my computer when I’m within a 15-foot range, so I never have to think about it. I also like being able to monitor how many hours I’ve slept. Favorite feature? The digital flower display, which tracks my recent activity and reminds me to move around.” Aaron Scott, Product Manager, One Medical Group
What It Measures: Steps taken, calories burned, distance walked, floors climbed, and sleep quality.
