Chia seeds have gotten a lot of attention for their impressive combination of omega-3s, protein, and fiber, but have you heard of q’ia (pronounced kee-ah)? It’s a tasty cereal that blends chia seeds with two other wholesome ingredients: buckwheat and hemp. Both additions boast some of the same benefits as chia seeds–cholesterol-lowering fiber and heart-healthy omega-3s–and the trio creates a perfect base for an energizing, satisfying, gluten-free morning meal.

Yield: 1 serving
Prep time: 1 minute
Total time: 2 minutes

Recipe Ingredients
2 tablespoons Nature’s Path Qi’a Cereal;  original flavor (see Recipe Note)
5 tablespoons unsweetened alternative milk (preferably almond, coconut, or hemp seed milk)
1/2 cup lightly toasted pecans, roughly chopped
1/4 cup raspberries or blueberries
1/4 cup or more alternative milk

Recipe Preparation

  1. Place 2 tablespoons of Qi’a cereal and 5 tablespoons of alternative milk into a medium glass and leave in the refrigerator overnight.
  2. In the morning, add the remaining ingredients. Mix and enjoy!

Recipe Note

You can make your own version of this cereal by buying the ingredients separately. All you need are chia seeds, buckwheat groats, and ground, shelled hemp seeds.
