Guest Blogging Guidelines

We’ve worked hard to create a vibrant community, and we’re flattered that you’d like to write for the One Medical blog! We’ve compiled these guest blogging guidelines to ensure that we’ll be on the same page (so to speak).

Due to the volume and quality of guest post inquiries we receive, please know that while we review every inquiry, we may not respond for up to 10 business days. We must receive pitches for seasonal material about a particular month, holiday, event, or season a minimum of six weeks in advance.

Please read the following guidelines carefully (it’ll save us both a lot of time in the long run!):

What should I write about?

We seek well-written articles on healthy eating and living. We’re looking for articles with lots of actionable tips and ideas. We’re not looking for generic posts on healthy living, so please know your stuff, and offer smart advice.

We love recipes! Especially ones that are simple and healthy, with a focus on seasonal ingredients. For recipe posts, we also require high-quality, original images. (You retain the copyright to the image and can repurpose it for whatever you like.)

So can I just send you whatever I feel like?

Please be familiar with the One Medical Blog before submitting a pitch for a story. Do your research to be sure that you’re not pitching an idea that we’ve covered recently.

How can I pitch an idea and follow up?

The quickest way is to email editor[at]onemedical.com. Include:

  • Your idea, in brief (headline and outline) – do not submit a written article unless we ask for it
  • Link(s) to your website(s)
  • Links to relevant writing samples
  • A short bio with your credentials and links to any relevant social media pages

If we like your idea, we’ll get in touch. If you haven’t heard from us within two weeks, please feel free to email us regarding the status of your pitch.

Are you going to edit my work?

We edit all posts for clarity and concision. It’s pretty painless, we promise.

Can I send you something I’ve already published, or plan to publish elsewhere?

Nope, but thanks for asking. One Medical requires original content, so if you’d like to submit it elsewhere, we wish you all the best.

How much traffic will I get from my guest post?

We don’t have a crystal ball, but we do have a few best practices that are really, truly helpful. We encourage you to:

  • Share your work with your own social networks. We’ll do the same!
  • Come back to your post and join the conversation with your new readers.
  • Post a teaser to your article on your site with a link to the full story on the One Medical blog.

Anything else I need to know about?

Yes. Our community is awesome. They have great taste and high expectations. And they’re smart and supportive. If they like your ideas, they’ll spread the word.
