Nurse Practitioner, an advanced practice degree for primary care providers who complete master’s-level training and board certification and who practice medicine independently. Related degrees include ANP (Adult Nurse Practitioner), FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner), WHNP (Women's Health Nurse Practitioner), and APNP (Advance Practice Nurse Practitioner).
I strive to meet every person where they are and account for the whole person in physical, emotional, and spiritual health. I enjoy partnering with patients on their goals in health, filtering health information, navigating the health system, and determining the right health decisions with them for that moment in time. I’m especially passionate about preventive health, helping people manage chronic health conditions, and the importance of mental health in overall well-being. I practice comprehensive care with a whole-body, integrative approach that encourages natural healing and considers less-invasive treatment methods when possible. And I especially love learning from and serving diverse communities with pediatrics, internal medicine, geriatric, and LGBTQ+ care.
How I stay healthy and happy
I am a lifelong learner so you can readily find me with a nonfiction book or watching documentary films. When I can draw or write poetry, I also volunteer usher with the performing arts in ethnic dance, arts, and music. I used to volunteer as a medic companion with individuals for abilities inclusion in kayak, cross-country skiing, and rafting adventures. I’m still looking for an organization with that same mission here in the DC area. I am fortunate to have these various opportunities and hope to continue learning from perspectives of children, youth, seniors, abilities, LGBTQ, and diverse communities.
