HMO Plans & One Medical

Find what you need to know about HMO plans and how they work at One Medical.

At our New York City offices, One Medical accepts HMO plans in the Aetna, Cigna, EmblemHealth, Empire BlueCross BlueShield, Oxford, The Empire Plan, and UnitedHealthcare networks.

If you have an HMO plan, you must first designate a One Medical doctor to be your primary care physician (PCP) through your insurance. That allows us to bill your insurance for services you receive here and refer you to specialists when needed.

Once you have a One Medical doctor selected as your PCP, you're welcome to see any of our providers in and outside the office. We're all in the same network. It's kind of like being one big happy family.

We also accept most Medicare plans; for more details you can call us at 212-441-4383.

How can I switch my assigned HMO physician to someone at One Medical?

It's easy! Call your insurance provider before your first visit and request that a One Medical physician be designated as your primary care physician (PCP). Don't stress over whom to choose—once you have a One Medical provider on your insurance card, you can see any other One Medical provider within the HMO network you have selected. That includes the One Medical nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work with the One Medical doctors in your network—so there are lots of options for your care.

Visit the website of your HMO network to see a list of One Medical doctors that are considered "in-network."

Which providers can I see with my HMO plan?

As long as you have a One Medical doctor designated as your PCP through your insurance carrier, you can see any of our providers for appointments and virtual visits. If you'd like help choosing a preferred provider to be your main point of contact at One Medical, call 212-441-4383, and our Membership Advisor team will be happy to help.
