STD Testing

It may not be a topic you want to talk about, but STD testing is an important part of maintaining your overall health and wellness. The experts at One Medical understand that sexually transmitted diseases (sometimes called sexually transmitted infections or STIs) can seem scary and that STD screening can be intimidating or even embarrassing. That's why we take every measure possible to ensure you feel safe, comfortable, and in control of your well-being.

Along with comfort, confidentiality is one of our top priorities, and we go to great lengths to guarantee your STD test results remain totally private, just like the rest of your medical record. Additionally, our staff of experienced, knowledgeable experts treats every patient with the utmost dignity and respect, providing first-rate care in a judgment-free zone.

You can receive STD testing at any of our Seattle/Bellevue offices.

How is STD testing done at One Medical?

Our STD testing is done right on site, in our offices, giving you quick, convenient access to care without an added trip to the lab.

If you're sexually active, you should be screened for STDs at some point, but the types of tests you get and when you get them will depend on your personal situation and risk factors. One Medical's team of experts will work with you to determine which tests you may need. And in the event that you receive a positive diagnosis, they'll ensure you get the fastest, most effective STD treatment available.

Even if you don't have symptoms, STD testing is an important way to make sure you're staying safe and healthy. Not all STDs present symptoms and not everyone experiences STD symptoms, to testing is often the only way to know for sure if you have an infection. Luckily, most STDs are curable, and they're all treatable. Most tests require a blood or urine sample or a swab of the area where there might be an infection.

What kind of STDs do you test for?

We can provide both general STD screening as well as STD testing if you have specific symptoms or exposure. Common STDs that we can test for include:

  • HIV
  • Gonorrhea
  • Chlamydia
  • Syphilis
  • Hepatitis B
  • Hepatitis C

Whether or not you have symptoms, if you're ready to talk about STD screening, make an appointment with your provider today and discuss which tests may be right for you.

How do I request an STD test?

If you are interested in getting an STD test, tell your provider during an appointment and they can determine which tests you will need. Our Virtual Medical Team may also be able to assess whether you will need an in-person appointment; in some cases they can place an order for your tests remotely. Either way, you will then be able to get your test done at any of our on-site labs, at your convenience.
