"I wish patients knew how much power and control they can have; that they're not necessarily a victim of their genetics or their upbringing. They can alter and change their patterns of behavior and that can make a huge difference in their health."

Nili Azhar, MD

Walk into any of our conveniently located offices and you'll be met by our skilled staff who will make sure you're relaxed and comfortable before completing your on-site lab tests. From blood draws to vaccinations, it's easy to pop in and take care of the tests and immunizations your provider has ordered for you. Walk-in lab hours vary by location, but no appointment is needed.

After the outside lab company securely processes your tests, you'll receive a personalized email from one of our providers with an overview of your results and any necessary next steps.

How can I get lab services at One Medical?

Our board-certified providers will work with you to decide whether you need lab work. Based on the reason for your visit, your current health, and any medications you're taking, they'll make sure to only order lab tests as necessary.

If you're monitoring a specific health condition, your provider may order tests once or twice a year, or more frequently as needed. And if you're interested in having a particular lab test done, ask your provider via email or during your next office visit.

When are the on-site labs open?

Please refer to the local office pages for specific lab hours.

Will insurance cover my lab tests?

Every insurance plan is different, and the details of your coverage depend on your specific policy. While most lab tests are generally covered by insurance, you may want to contact your carrier before visiting the lab in order to ensure coverage.

If I’m new to One Medical, should I have labs done prior to my first visit?

No. In order to make sure we don’t waste your time or money, we’d like to meet you first. Your provider then can assess which tests are needed and write you the appropriate lab orders. You can transfer your existing medical records to us electronically - just use the medical record request form in My One.

Should I fast before my lab test?

Sometimes you need to fast before your lab work in order to get the most accurate results. Your primary care provider will talk to you about how to prepare for your test. Fasting means you cannot eat or drink anything but plain water for 12 hours before your test – prescription medication is the only exception. Drinking plenty of water before lab work makes the blood draw easier.

How and when will I get my lab test results back?

You’ll receive your lab tests results and an explanation of what the results mean in seven to 10 business days. A third-party partner processes all lab tests and sends the results back to One Medical. One of our board-certified providers will then review the report and email you with the test results, along with any recommendations on what you may need to do next.

Can I get STD and HIV testing done at One Medical?

Yes. We keep STD test results completely confidential, as we do with all medical tests. If you believe you were exposed to HIV or viral Hepatitis, contact your provider immediately to discuss early preventive treatment options.
