"One of the things that I love about working at One Medical is our use of technology. Patients schedule appointments online and use our mobile app, and we interact through email all the time, which makes everything extremely easy."
Your provider will assess your need for specific lab work based on your overall health status, age, any medications you take, and the amount of time that's passed since your last set of tests. If you're young and healthy, you may only need lab work once every five years. If you're managing an ongoing medical condition, your provider may order tests annually, or more frequently. If you're interested in having a particular test performed, you can discuss it with your provider in person or via email before you visit the lab.
Please refer to the local office pages for specific lab hours.
Every insurance plan is different, and the details of your coverage depend on your specific policy. While most lab tests are generally covered by insurance, you may want to contact your carrier before visiting the lab in order to ensure coverage.
No. In order to make sure we don’t waste your time or money, we’d like to meet you first. Your provider then can assess which tests are needed and write you the appropriate lab orders. You can transfer your existing medical records to us electronically - just use the medical record request form in My One.
You may be required to fast before certain lab tests in order to receive accurate results. If your provider tells you that you need to fast before your tests, then you should not eat food or drink anything besides water for at least 12 hours before your test. Be sure to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and make the blood draw easier, and continue any medications you regularly take during the time you are fasting.
Lab results are typically received within 7 to 10 business days of the test date. Your tests will be processed through a third-party facility and returned to One Medical. One of our Virtual Medical Team members will then review the results, and email them to you along with an interpretation of the report and advice on any next steps.
Yes. We keep STD test results completely confidential, as we do with all medical tests. If you believe you were exposed to HIV or viral Hepatitis, contact your provider immediately to discuss early preventive treatment options.
